What if someone owes $100,000 tax liabiity from the IRS and makes an installment payment plan.  Are you going to continue making payments until you die? Tax lien lasts for 30 years.  I am simply suggesting that there is a better way, and I am not talking about BK.  In BK court, depends on what kind of tax liabilities (state agencies or federal) we are talking about, income tax liability can be discharged depends on whether it's self assessed, compliance assessed or audit assessed plus there are other variations such as when it was assessed and finalized, etc.
